Parts of the Island Dream

The Island Dream has been kept in excellent condition since it was crafted in 1989.   The hull, deck, and bottom are in good shape. The instruments and all of the appliances work well.  We have been continually updating and improving different parts for the last two years.

For cruising, you will find all the kitchen parts working-the water heater, water pump, water foot pump, oven, 2 stove burners (with sniffer), ice box, storage for plates, storage for glasses, storage for food, silverware tray, utensils drawer, and coffee drawer.  The boat is equiped with a Garmin Chartplotter and an AIS alarm.  You will love the automatic pilot steering which allows a single person to raise the main and set the lines.  We have a rocker stopper that limits rocking side to side in heavy seas.  There is a television that picks up digital channels with a remote.  The aft cabin sleeps two comfortably and the V-berth can hold two more.  Both have storage for hang up clothes.  Finally, two can sleep on the seat benches in the main cabin.

The Dream is a fast boat with a pretty high PHRF rating.  The bilge is dry as you can tell from the bolts shown in the picture.  The lazarette locker in the aft cockpit seating space of the cockpit provides access to fuses, containers, and equipment.

The Dream has taken us on many great adventures.  In the Bay Area, one of our favorite lunch spots is Sam's Anchor Cafe in Tiburon.  She also spent a couple of years in Pittsburg where we exploring the canals up to Rio Vista and even a short trip up to Vallejo.  Of course the jewel East of San Pablo Bay is the lovely Benicia Marina-jazz, cafes, restaurants-priceless.  Outside the Bay, you can find adventure at the Point Reyes National Park or the beautiful Half Moon Bay where you can buy salmon off the fishing boats.  The jellyfish in the Monterey Bay will shock you, but there is nothing more stunning than the coastline and the whales you can see on your way down to Morro Bay.   The best place to buy abalone is off the dock at Santa Barbara - just watch out for micro storms there.  The Channel Islands are wild and I don't think we have even seen more spectacular views sailing than the south shore of Anacapa Island.  The fanciest marina is probably Marina del Rey in LA though the San Diego Yacht Club was extremely nice and welcoming.  However, our most frequent visits have been to the relaxing ports of Santa Catalina Island and Newport Bay.
